The power in this piece is absolutely astonishing. To begin with, this piece is a ritual piece that was created by a breakoff Templar Society that exists in Europe. In fact, they are secretive that I'm thoroughly surprised that this piece has been recovered from their midst. When I say secret what I mean is that everyone knows that the sect exists, but nobody really knows who their members are, where they meet, etc. Also, finding out what their secret forms of magic are is rarely heard of. The story of this piece begins with the the Lord of Sidon who was enamored with a woman who is refered to as "a great Lady of Maraclea". The Lord of Sidon, who was also of the Templar order was devastated at her death. Following her burial, the Lord crept to her grave at night, digging up her body, violating in unspeakable ways. Upon finishing, a voice spoke to him out of the darkness, telling him to return in nine months and he shall have a child.
I know it seems crazy, but after the passing of nine months he returned and opened her grave once more. Here he discovered a skeletal head leg bones and the same voice as before spoke out to him: "Guard it well, for it be the giver of good things." The Lord and Templar receded from the grave with his prize, making it high priority to share his new possession with the rest of his Templar brethren. The Lord of Sidon used the head and bones in many Templar rituals to get what he wanted. Whether this was communication with the dead, wealth, victory in battle, knowledge, or magic, the head worked like a charm. He even hoisted the head in times of battled as an omen that he was the possessor of what had become known in legend as the Skull of Sidon. The depiction of the skull and cross bones was adopted by the Templars as their official symbol, recognizing that out of death came life.
The actual skull and crossbones was passed down the Templar line and exists somewhere in Europe-- the same place that this piece comes from.
